The YCS in Bogota, Colombia (the capital) came to a close. The results were not too surprising, and a handful of Colbians managed to pull off tops.

The YCS saw Nekroz dominate as expected after 9 rounds of suisse.

Breakdown of decks in the last 16:

  • 10 Nekroz
  • 2 Shaddoll
  • 1 Qliphort
  • 1 Burning Abyss
  • 1 Tellarknight
  • 1 Volcanic

The winner of the tournament was Barrett Arthur Keys who beat his opponent, the 2010 world champion. Keys’ performances have been phenomenal, he won YCS Tacoma and also lost in the final of YCS Chicago to the same opponent. His Nekroz deck has proven solid in competition.

The tournament was a relatively low key event, it was taking place alongside an ARG, was located in Colombia and also saw some TCG players wander off to YOT Singapore

The tournament did not see the play of the newly released World Superstars pack though. The new heroes and seraphs will have to wait.

Talking Points

  • Shaddolls continue mini resurgence. Anomalilith’s release is barely a couple weeks away and Shaddolls have found some of their mojo back.
  • Burning Abyss struggling. Double Dante and live fire lake fields are no longer part of the decks reality. Shaddolls and tellarknights have eclipsed this deck in terms of tops. Tour guide has left a void.
  • Another random Qliphort! Qlips are no longer prominent but they managed to churn out another top, much to everyone’s disbelief. Against all odds too.
  • Volcanics chug along. The first volcanic top this format despite having a single vanity’s emptiness.

With the new packs and changes in the format a heartbeat away, this will be the last of such YCSs. The new format is here.
